How to Fish Trick Shots: Bounce, Bank and 360
Trick shots are the highest-skill, highest-reward mechanic in the HowToFish.click browser game. All numbers below are original browser-game values.
What counts as a trick shot
A trick shot is any cast that bounces before hooking a fish. Two surfaces bounce:
- Water skips - cast at a flat angle and the lure skips across the surface instead of piercing it.
- Rock ricochets - the pillars in Rocky Cove reflect the lure with a loud ping and a visible RICOCHET popup.
The bounce counter appears at the top of the screen during flight. If you hook a fish on that cast, the catch value is multiplied by 1 + 0.5 × bounces, capped at 6 bounces for a 4x bonus:

Weight adds up to $5 per kg on top, and defeating a fish with the harpoon adds another 1.6x - multipliers stack.
The 360 shot
While aiming, drag your finger (or mouse) in a full circle. A ring around the rod tip fills as you spin; complete 360 degrees and it glows green with 360! SPIN READY. The next catch on that cast earns a 1.5x bonus and unlocks the 360! achievement. No aim assist, no shortcuts - the circle must be genuinely full.
How to practice
- Start on Sunny Beach - open water means you cannot accidentally bank off pillars.
- Cast almost horizontal, aiming at a fish shadow near the surface. A 10-15 degree release angle gives clean skips.
- Hold the angle flat for multiple skips; each skip costs forward speed, so a stronger rod helps chains.
- In Rocky Cove, aim at the water between two pillars and bounce pillar-to-pillar before the hook.
- Practice in the trick shot simulator - it is a free 60-second scoring arena with the same physics.
Common mistakes
- Too steep - the lure pierces the water on the first touch. No bounce, no bonus.
- Bouncing without a target - bounces only pay when you hook a fish. Line up the fish first, then the bank line.
- Banking into land - hitting the beach or the cliff instantly retrieves the lure. Keep the line in the water.
- Spinning without casting - the 360 bonus expires if the cast fails or hooks nothing. Make the cast count.
Bank Shot and Triple Bank achievements
Hook a fish after 1+ bounces for Bank Shot, and after 3+ bounces in a single cast for Triple Bank. Both are tracked in your save and visible in the progress tracker.
